I like wine, though I cannot pretend to be a connoisseur. In fact, I’ve found it’s a great deal of fun to tease the connoisseurs in my life, especially my youngest son. My grandfather had some fascinating friends. He and my grandmother lived on the high desert west of Victorville back when few lived east of the San Gabriels. One of those friends was a retired WWII Army vet who would periodically grab his Thompson sub-machinegun from above his front door, leap outside in his drawers and shoot at the moon. Editor Neil Hogan just sent a note informing me that Alien Dimensions # 19 is officially published. I think it’s a strong issue and I’m most pleased that he included my “Sparkle”. The story’s two main characters are veterans of an earlier story, “Kill the Coffee Boilers”, published in the Third Flatiron’s 2016 anthology “Hyper-powers”.
