Shared Taxi

I thank editor Dawn Lowe for including “Shared Taxi” in Brilliant Flash Fiction. This story’s narrator, Henri, was informed by my old friend and colleague John White. Though John’s biography was quite different than Henri’s, they shared a bon vivant approach to life — mitigated by grace and kindness. Paris and Istanbul, what can I say? I think love of the former is the reason Pierre Loti came to adore the latter. Me, too. Here’s the link. Please do scroll down because Taxi is at the bottom! https://brilliantflashfiction.com/2023/09/30/september-2023/#more-6209

Rue de L’Abrevoir

Purple Sunset — Philippe

Saturday Writers conducts a twice yearly ekphrastic writing contest using art works by Missouri artists. Two of my poems were chosen for inclusion in the October 20th event at the St Peters Cultural Arts Centre. I’m most pleased and honored! I can’t share the poems — Rue de L’Abrevoir and Caveat — but I can offer one of the paintings they accompany and a teaser:

“She knows the shadows of a certain place

Where every minute is an hour . . .”

I thank Editor Jayne Jaudon Ferrer for including my brief poem on Your Daily Poem. It seems to have pleased and I’m glad. I always try to keep it simple!

Don Francisco Rides to La Paz

Suggestions made by Scribophile members helped me get this story up to speed and encouraged me to share this with the wider world. It requires a leap of faith from readers – and publishers, too. Thanks, Beryl Belsky!
